choice.

choice.

The Bible tells us about Job and the horror of his pain. He lost everything he had – even his children – and was attacked with physical pain.

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.

This was Job’s response to God.

That’s not to say he didn’t question his demise, but after processing all that happened to him, he made a choice to trust God. This is an acknowledgement of accepting that God is over all. It begins and ends with Him.

It’s a choice every Christian comes face to face with. It is a choice that reveals one’s devotion to God. Because if the going gets tough, it’s easy to bail out.

God wants us to have joy and peace. No matter what the circumstances, we will have both when we choose to trust God with everything.

If we choose not to trust God…we won’t.

why?

why?

There’s so much we don’t understand.

Yet, there’s much we do understand.

A storm doesn’t have the last laugh.

And just when you think you can’t go on – times of refreshing come.

And sadness disappears when joy shows up.

But you have to believe – even when you wonder why.

See beyond the moment!

When you sing while all is not well,  it’s because you most likely have come to a place of understanding how joy and sorrow can exist together.  For the Christian, it is understood that Jesus endured suffering for the joy set before Him.  Another who comes to mind is Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who lived daily with suffering all around her.

Most of us have experienced it really is better to give than receive – a remedy for a heavy heart. Another remedy is simply enjoying life despite our circumstances. I’m not talking about faking it. I’m talking about realizing all of humanity suffers in some degree or another, concluding it is what it is, and tapping into joy.

It’s one thing to enjoy life when all is well, and by all means, do so! It’s another thing to enjoy life when all is not well. Do so anyway. You will find your emotions lining up!

joy.

joy.

Joy is not happiness. Although, happiness can come from joy.

Joy is a constant light that is not too bright nor too dim. It burns steadily in your soul and keeps you balanced. It is not hindered by the extremes of emotions. Joy can be felt in the midst of sorrow.

Sudden and unexpected tragedy causes serious pain and heartache. But God has provided joy to overcome the sorrow. It is the bulwark that keeps the sorrow from overtaking you.

Whether you believe in God or not, you may have already experienced the joy I am writing about today. That’s because God has given it to all.

Let joy be your strength today!
