miss.

miss.

We can be hurting so badly, we don’t see clearly.

Yet, God has ways to bring comfort. Our pain makes us sensitive to the ache in our heart, but it also makes us aware of the smallest of pleasures.

The way the morning sun filters through the window curtains, laying patterns on the bed.

The way the rain rhythmically patters on the roof, lulling us to sleep.

The way a butterfly dances to each flower, with certainty of provision.

These are not small things. They are meant to strike a chord deep within our souls and bring a smile.

This is God telling us He is with us. Don’t miss the moments.

They are all around you …

look.

look.

If you don’t look up you will miss the gift God had for you today.

He knows all about the pain.

But He also knows what makes us smile.

But you have to look.

see.

see.

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. -The Bible

One look into the night sky and a whole lot can be straightened out in our thinking.

up.

up.

When you look down, you can’t see where you’re going. The view is narrowed to where you place each step.

It’s interesting how often our emotions line up with our bodies. We all know the one who is looking down and walking quickly is someone on a mission. The one hunched over, taking slow steps is feeling weighted down with problems or defeat.

Look up.

Just look up! It can change your whole perspective.

to be continued …

acceptance.

acceptance.

God painted the world with delicate beauty.

With purposeful intent, God knew we would respond to its beauty.

Some things are obvious.

Some things are not.

Look at all God made. He created it for us!  Do you think you are less important than the great thought God had when creating the earth? You are of much more value to Him.

rejection.

rejection.

One form of pain is rejection.

It says:

not wanted.

not liked.

not valued.

God says something very different.

But if God loved me  he wouldn’t …

The rain falls on all of us just the same. God loves you enough to help you through the rejection.

After all, Jesus was rejected. He knows.

bigger.

bigger.

To find peace in your pain, there has to be something or someone bigger than your situation.

Optimism and positive thinking are a good start, but it doesn’t take away the lump in your throat. Addictions eases the pain momentarily – only to find it on our plate the next morning.

God, the creator of the universe, is well able to handle anything that comes along. He hears us when we call out to Him. In our minds, we want the painful situation to go away. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn’t.

Nevertheless, God says He will never leave us or forget about us. That means He will through the pain with us.

Go ahead. Ask Him.

why?

why?

There’s so much we don’t understand.

Yet, there’s much we do understand.

A storm doesn’t have the last laugh.

And just when you think you can’t go on – times of refreshing come.

And sadness disappears when joy shows up.

But you have to believe – even when you wonder why.

See beyond the moment!

time.

time.

There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under heaven:

a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.

-The Bible

gone.

gone.

He was here for 70 years.

Things started to taste strange. Then he started losing weight.

Then he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

He lived 8 months after that.

Black and white pictures of another time, another place – his life ahead of him. He took his place and offered his uniqueness. There was no one quite like him.

And now he’s gone.

Yet, sorrow mingles with the joy of seeing him again in eternity.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. – Ecclesiastes 3:11
